Managing Director (MD) PSIC, along with the Director Creative and Cultural Industries, attended an interactive session on handicrafts and small industries held at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI). The President FPCCI initiated the session by appreciating the efforts of PSIC in bridging the gap between the government and the handicrafts sector by promoting artisans and crafts at both national and international levels.
The Director Creative and Cultural Industries briefed the participants on PSIC’s initiatives for the promotion of handicrafts, including dedicated shops and an online shop portal, handicraft development centers, artisan villages, and the geotagging of artisans across Punjab. The session included remarks from various distinguished guests, including Vice President FPCCI, presidents of Women chambers and handicraft associations.
The session concluded with the MD PSIC sharing her thoughts, addressing the concerns raised by participants. She acknowledged the existing lack of connectivity within the sector and assured that PSIC is committed to bridging this gap to ensure that the efforts of such sessions for artisans are not lost. She also discussed the agenda of forming Women Resource and Craft Incubation (WRCI) centers in Multan and Faisalabad, along with plans for expanding the WRCI initiative in Lahore.
